A lot of people here on DW are very kind to newer mappers, since they were often once in your shoes. Asking questions is about the only way you'll know how things work( Besides watching videos and reading posts/threads) and what to do or not to do. Don't be afraid to ask questions or ask for help. Take that feedback and incorporate it into your maps, and you'll notice you're improving.ģ. A lot of people here are more than willing to playtest your maps, and provide helpful critiques and advice. Constructive criticisms are the most valuable thing to even experienced mappers. It's open to mappers of all skills, and is a great place to learn from your mistakes and improve( just read the rules first).Ģ. A good place to start would be the Doomworld maximum project. In case you don't know what a CP is, a community project is a project open to mappers who make maps based on themes or restrictions. What I do at the moment is contribute to a lot of community projects. The way I started( and still continue to do) is start with a few single map releases. I won't be going over how to map(since I'm still trying to work that out myself XD), since I'm sure someone here will kindly link a few videos on how to make maps.ġ.Start small, then aim bigger. So I'm probably the wrong person to be contributing some tips or advice since I'm still a beginner mapper, but over the time I've spent in this awesome community I've noticed a few things, and I'll relay some of the advice or tips I've been given as well as the advice I've seen more experienced mappers( and even non-mappers who know what they're talking about) give to new mappers.
